Easy Crochet Christmas Circle Coaster
Gauge: Exact gauge is not crucial for this project.
Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver: Cherry Red (MC), Hunter Green (CC1) , White (CC2)
Hook: US Size 6
Special Stitches:
Cluster Stitch: Yarn over, insert hook into stitch. Yarn over, pull through 2, 2 loops remain on hook.
Yarn over, insert hook into same stitch. Yarn over, pull through 2, 3 loops remain on hook.
Yarn over, insert hook into same stitch. Yarn over, pull through 2, 4 loops remain on hook.
Yarn over, pull through all 4 loops.
Chain 1 to fasten off cluster stitch.
(Note: this is not the same ch1 as the ch1 space in the pattern below. This chain 1 is only to close off the top of the cluster. It does not act as the ch1 sp).
Round 1. With MC, start with a magic loop. Ch3 (this counts as the first DC), 7 dc in magic loop. Sl st in top of ch 3 to close circle. (8dc)
Round 2. Change to CC1. Ch 2 from where you just closed the round. Work 1 cluster stitch in same stitch. *Ch 1. Work 1 cluster in next stitch.* Repeat between * * around. Ch1. Slip stitch to top of chain 2 to close. Slip stitch to 1 stitch before top of first chain 1 sp and pull up CC2. Slip st into ch 1 space with CC2. (8 clusters. 8 ch 1 sp.)
Round 3: Ch 2. *Work 1 cluster stitch in next ch1 space. Ch 1. Work 1 more cluster in same stitch. Ch 1.* Repeat between * * around. Slip stitch to top of chain 2 to close. Slip stitch to 1 stitch before top of first chain 1 sp and pull up MC. Slip st into ch 1 space with MC. (16 clusters, 16 ch1 sp.)
Round 4: Ch 2. *Work 1 cluster stitch in next ch1 space. Ch 1. Work 1 more cluster in same stitch. Ch 1. Work 1 cluster stitch in next ch 1 space. Ch 1.* Repeat between * * to 2nd to last chain space. Work 1 cluster stitch in next ch1 space. Ch 1. Work 1 more cluster in same stitch. Ch 1. Slip stitch to top of chain 2 to close round. Fasten off. Weave in ends. . (23 clusters, 23 ch 1 sp.)
