Here are my easy Christmas tree dish scrubbers. They use Loops and Threads ‘squeaky clean’ but any polyester size 4 ‘dish scrubber’ yarn will work. The yarn also has a lot of elasticity to it, so I found it necessary to work with a smaller needle size than recommended on the package. Exact gauge is not necessary for this project. Materials:
Size US knitting needles
1 skein each, Loops & Thread Squeaky Clean Polyester, red & green
Scissors
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
Stitch Key:
KFB: Knit Front Back โ 1 stitch increase
KFBF: Knit Front Back Front โ 2 stitch increase
CO: Cast on
STS: Stitches
C1: Color 1
C2: Color 2
BO: Bind off.
Steps:
Tree (make 2)
CO 1 st. in C1 (green).
Row 1: KFBF 1 time (3 sts)
Row 2: Knit all stitches (3 sts)
Row 3: Knit all stitches (3 sts)
Row 4: KFB 1, knit remaining stitches across to last stitch, KFB 1 (5 sts)
Row 5: Knit all stitches (5 sts)
Row 6: Knit all stitches (5 sts)
Rows 7 โ 46: Repeat rows 4-6 ending with 29sts.
Row 47: BO 11sts. Attach C2 (red). Knit 7 stitches in C2. Knit remaining 11sts in C1.
* When you BO 11sts In row 47, pull up the red yarn as if to knit and BO the 11th st using C2 (red). This will allow you to continue to working across with the next 7 sts in C2 for the truck.
*I carried the green yarn across the back of the red trunk in this row.






Row: 48 BO 11sts CO1. Break C1. Knit 7 stitches in C2.
Row: 49-55: Knit across. (8 sts)
BO.
Seam wrong sides together along sides of trees using a straight stitch. Leave bottom open for hand opening.
Weave in any ends.
