Assembly:
Notes: Complete the outside of the bag first and then sew the liner in as a separate piece around the top of the bag.

Block crocheted fabric if desired.

I recommend blocking whenever possible to have the fabric as even as possible for sewing. I recommend avoiding heat sources when blocking acrylic yarn because the fibers can melt. Other blocking methods may also work equally well.

Attach bag handles to the right side of the crocheted fabric, sewing from top down to 1 ½ inches from the top of the fabric. Be sure to attach handles to the same space on each side of the bag.

The bag handles should be facing down, toward the center of the fabric, because they will flip up when you fold the top down to make the seam.

Fold and sew a 1 ½ straight seam on the width edge of both white sides of the crocheted fabric.

Fold the right sides of the bag together. Single crochet side seams of crochet bag together. You may seam the side edges of the seams closed or leave them open if you would like to work a drawstring through the side edges of the seam.

Cut liner fabric, leaving at least a half-inch seam allowance around all edges of the liner fabric.

REMEMBER – Leave at least a ½ seam allowance on the crocheted fabric for seaming the crocheted edges together.

Sew a hem or all edges of the lining fabric. I used a sewing machine to do this. You may also hand-sew the fabric, using a straight stitch.

Fold the right sides of the fabric together. Stitch a side seam on both long ends.

Attach liner to crocheted fabric with pins. Hand-sew the lining fabric around the top edge of the crocheted bag using a straight stitch.
